DSSSB is different from many recruitment portals because its OARS instructions can require a postcard-size photograph rather than a standard passport-size image.

The photograph should be clear, recent and properly framed. Avoid using a tightly cropped headshot when the application instructions require the upper portion of the body to be visible.

Check These Before Uploading Your Photo

• Face is clearly visible.
• Upper body is included as required.
• Background is clean and suitable.
• Image is not blurred or excessively compressed.
• Final dimensions are 480 × 672 px.
• File size falls within the applicable range.
• The saved file is in JPG/JPEG format.

DSSSB Signature Size: 140 × 110 px

The DSSSB signature has a different shape from the photograph and should be prepared separately.

Write your normal signature on clean white paper and make sure the complete signature remains visible after cropping.

If the current advertisement gives a different size or file limit for your recruitment, follow that instruction instead.

Don't Use the Same Settings for Photo and Signature

Your DSSSB photograph and signature have completely different proportions — the photograph is 480 × 672 px and 50–300 KB, while the signature is 140 × 110 px and up to 40 KB. Using the same resize or compression settings for both can produce an incorrectly cropped or distorted file. Prepare each document separately.

How to Resize Your DSSSB Photograph

   Upload your original photo

   Start with the clearest photograph available. Avoid repeatedly compressing an already-compressed image.

   Crop to the required shape

   Use the postcard-style portrait ratio and keep the face and required upper-body area properly positioned.

   Set the dimensions

   Prepare the final image at 480 × 672 px.

   Adjust the file size

   Compress the JPEG until it falls within the applicable 50–300 KB range.

   Check the final image

   Make sure the photograph remains clear after compression and that important parts haven't been cropped.

   Download the finished file

   Save the resized version separately from your original photograph.

How to Prepare Your DSSSB Signature

Sign clearly on plain white paper using a dark pen. Then:

   Crop the signature

   Crop around the complete signature.

   Remove excess space

   Remove excessive empty space where necessary.

   Set the dimensions

   Set the image to 140 × 110 px.

   Adjust the file size

   Adjust the file size to the applicable limit.

   Check and download

   Open the downloaded file and check the complete signature before uploading.

Keep the original signature image as well. A future DSSSB recruitment may use different upload specifications.

Thumb Impression Requirements

Thumb impressions are not necessarily required for every DSSSB recruitment. If your application asks for one, follow the dimensions, file size, format and thumb-side instructions given in the specific advertisement and OARS upload section.

Prepare a thumb impression separately from your signature using the Thumb Impression Resizer, and check the final file before uploading.

Common DSSSB Upload Mistakes

Uploading a Passport-Size Photo

A conventional passport-size photograph may have the wrong aspect ratio when the application requires the DSSSB postcard-style format. Check whether your recruitment requires the 480 × 672 px photograph before uploading.

Cropping the Photo Too Tightly

A close-up face photograph may remove the upper-body area required by the application instructions. Keep the required portion of the body visible while maintaining a clear view of your face.

Signature Gets Cut Off

An overly tight crop can remove part of the handwriting. Keep the complete signature inside the crop with a small amount of surrounding white space.

Correct KB but Wrong Dimensions

A file can have the correct KB value and still fail if its pixel dimensions are incorrect. Check both dimensions and file size before downloading the final file.

Renaming PNG as JPG

Changing a .png filename to .jpg does not actually convert the image format. Use proper image conversion/export rather than simply renaming the extension.

Keep Your Original and Final Files Separate

Keeping your original files makes future applications much easier — for example in a folder containing your original photo, final photo, original signature, final signature, thumb impression, educational documents, identity documents, submitted application and payment receipt.

Your original photograph and signature can be reused to create a new version if another recruitment has different dimensions or file-size requirements.

Before Uploading to DSSSB OARS

Give your files one final check:

• Photo dimensions are correct.
• Photo file size is within the applicable range.
• Photo framing follows the current instructions.
• Signature dimensions are correct.
• Signature file size is within the permitted limit.
• JPG/JPEG format is used where required.
• Final images open correctly.
• The OARS preview looks clear.
• You have checked the current advertisement for your specific recruitment.

If an image doesn't look right in the application preview, fix it before continuing to the next stage.
