NEET PG Photo, Signature & Thumb Impression Size

NEET PG is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) for MD/MS/DNB admissions — a separate exam from NEET UG, with its own information bulletin and upload specifications. Files prepared for NEET UG shouldn't be reused here.

Important

NBEMS has used an 80 KB ceiling for photograph, signature and thumb impression across recent NEET PG cycles, and a 3.5 × 1.5 cm box for both the signature and thumb impression. These figures can change between application cycles — check the current NEET PG information bulletin on natboard.edu.in before uploading, and treat this table as a starting point rather than a guarantee.

NEET PG Photograph Requirements

Your uploaded NEET PG photograph should meet these requirements:

  • Recent passport-size colour photograph — recent NBEMS bulletins have specified not older than 3 months.
  • JPG or JPEG format.
  • File size within the prescribed 80 KB limit.
  • Plain white background.
  • Face and head visible in at least 75% of the photo frame.
  • Clear, unedited, not excessively cropped.

NBEMS also captures a real-time photograph during the application process, separate from this uploaded file, so make sure your uploaded photo still reflects your current appearance.

How to Prepare Your NEET PG Photograph

  1. 1

    Start with a clear original

Use an unedited, uncompressed source photo.

  2. 2

    Check the background

It must be plain white, with no shadows or objects.

  3. 3

    Frame the face and head

Keep at least 75% of the frame filled with your face and head.

  4. 4

    Adjust the file size

Compress until the file falls below the 80 KB limit.

  5. 5

    Review the final file

Confirm it still looks sharp after compression.

  6. 6

    Keep it ready

Save the final JPG/JPEG before starting your NBEMS application.

NEET PG Signature Requirements

The NEET PG signature is prepared differently from most other exam forms — NBEMS asks you to sign inside a drawn box rather than scanning a full-page signature.

  • Draw a box 3.5 cm wide × 1.5 cm high on plain white paper.
  • Sign inside the box in running handwriting — not block/capital letters, not a typed signature.
  • Use a black or dark blue ink pen.
  • Capture it in bright, even light using a scanner or phone camera.
  • Final file must be JPG/JPEG, within the current size limit.

How to Prepare Your NEET PG Signature

  1. 1

    Draw the box

3.5 × 1.5 cm on clean white paper.

  2. 2

    Sign inside it

Full signature, running handwriting, black or blue ink.

  3. 3

    Capture it

Scan or photograph in bright light, avoiding shadows.

  4. 4

    Crop to the box

Remove everything outside the drawn box — our crop signature tool can trim the margins before you compress.

  5. 5

    Adjust the file size

Compress while keeping the signature legible.

  6. 6

    Preview and download

Check the signature is still readable before saving.

NEET PG Thumb Impression Requirements

The left thumb impression follows the same box format as the signature.

  • Draw a 3.5 cm × 1.5 cm box on plain white paper.
  • Use a blue or black ink pad, and keep hands clean and dry to avoid smudging.
  • Press your left thumb horizontally within the box, without twisting or pressing too hard.
  • Final file must be JPG/JPEG, below the maximum allowed size.

You can prepare the photo, signature and thumb impression separately with this tool — each has its own upload and size settings, selected from the toggle above.

NEET PG Also Requires a Real-Time Photograph

Like most NBEMS/NTA exams, the file you upload here is not the only photo NBEMS collects.

You first prepare and upload your passport-size photograph, signature and thumb impression as scanned or captured files. During the application process, NBEMS separately captures a real-time photograph, usually through your device's camera. This live-capture step is independent of the files you prepare and upload — completing this tool doesn't replace it.

Other NEET PG Application Documents

Besides your photograph, signature and thumb impression, your NEET PG application will typically need documents such as your MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate, internship completion certificate, and category certificates where applicable. These requirements depend on your eligibility and category, so check the current NBEMS information bulletin for the exact list before submitting your form.

Common NEET PG Upload Problems

ProblemWhat to Check
Photo is rejectedConfirm it's within 80 KB, JPG/JPEG, white background, and face+head fill at least 75% of the frame.
Signature is rejectedCheck it's signed inside the 3.5 × 1.5 cm box, in running handwriting, not capital letters or typed text.
Thumb impression is unclearRe-ink with a fresh, even coat — avoid pressing too hard or smudging while lifting the thumb.
File is too largeCompress gradually; a lower scan resolution can help bring larger scanned files into range.
Wrong file uploadedOpen each final file before selecting it, since photo, signature and thumb impression cannot be combined into one image.
Real-time photo not capturingCheck camera permissions and lighting when NBEMS prompts for the live photo during the application.

If a correctly prepared file is still above the limit, run it through our image compressor to bring it into range.

Why Your NEET PG Files Can Be Rejected

Getting the file size right is only part of the process. A file can still cause problems if:

  • The background isn't plain white.
  • The face and head cover less than 75% of the photo frame.
  • The signature or thumb impression isn't inside the specified box.
  • The signature is typed, in block capitals, or doesn't match your usual handwriting.
  • The thumb impression is smudged, too dark or too light.
  • The file isn't JPG/JPEG or exceeds the allowed size.

NBEMS states that images not meeting the prescribed specifications may not be considered, which can affect your application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the file size limit for NEET PG photo, signature and thumb impression?

NBEMS has specified a file size within 80 KB for the photograph, signature and thumb impression in recent NEET PG cycles. Confirm the current limit in this year's information bulletin.

What size box should I draw for the NEET PG signature?

Recent NEET PG bulletins specify a 3.5 cm (width) × 1.5 cm (height) box for the signature, signed in running handwriting with black or dark blue ink.

Is the NEET PG signature box the same as the thumb impression box?

Yes, both the signature and the left thumb impression use the same 3.5 × 1.5 cm box format in recent cycles, though they must be uploaded as separate files.

Does NEET PG require a live or real-time photograph?

Yes. In addition to the uploaded passport photograph, NBEMS captures a real-time photograph as a separate step during the application process.

Is NEET PG the same as NEET UG for photo and signature requirements?

No. NEET PG is conducted by NBEMS for MD/MS/DNB admissions, with its own file-size limits and box dimensions, while NEET UG is conducted by NTA for MBBS/BDS admissions with different specifications. Files prepared for one should not be reused for the other.

What other documents does a NEET PG application need?

Along with the photo, signature and thumb impression, applications typically require an MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate, an internship completion certificate, and category certificates where applicable — check the current bulletin for the full list.

Can I resize my NEET PG files on mobile?

Yes. Upload the image from your phone browser, crop it to the required box or frame, adjust the file size, preview and download.

Is my photo uploaded to your server?

No. SignatureResizer processes your images locally in your browser. Your photo, signature and thumb impression are not uploaded, stored or shared with our servers.
