Territorial Army Photo & Signature Resizer

Territorial Army recruitment runs through two separate routes — TA Officer and TA Soldier/Tradesman — each on its own portal, with its own photo and signature rules. Confirm which one applies to you before resizing.

Which Application Are You Filling?

Territorial Army recruitment is split into two routes that do not share a portal or a rulebook. Check the portal name in your registration link if you're unsure which one you're on — the two forms are not interchangeable.

TA Officer Entry

Applied through the Army recruitment portal used for your specific Territorial Army officer notification. Requirements can differ by notification, so always confirm the limits on the portal shown in your application. If you are also preparing for other officer exams, the wording on those forms is closer to our CDS signature resizer and AFCAT signature resizer pages, but do not assume the numbers carry across.

TA Soldier / Tradesman

Applied through territorialarmy.in, the direct recruitment route for soldier and tradesman posts. This route publishes fixed photo and signature figures, covered in detail below.

TA Soldier/Tradesman — Photo & Signature Requirements

Based on Territorial Army (Soldier/Tradesman) application instructions published on territorialarmy.in:

DocumentFile SizeFormatSourceOther Rules
Photograph50 KB – 80 KBJPG / JPEG onlyRecent passport-style photographLook straight at the camera with a relaxed face
Signature50 KB – 80 KBJPG / JPEG onlyPlain white paperBlack ink pen; applicant's own signature only

Both files share the same 50–80 KB range on this portal — a detail that's easy to miss if you're used to exams where photo and signature have different KB limits. If either file lands above 80 KB, run it through our image compressor and then confirm the result with the signature size checker.

Important

These figures are from Territorial Army application instructions published on territorialarmy.in. Notifications are issued separately each cycle, so cross-check against your specific notification PDF before uploading. Official source: territorialarmy.in application guidelines.

TA Officer — Photo & Signature Requirements

TA Officer entry goes through the Army recruitment portal linked in your specific officer notification. This route does not publish one fixed KB or pixel band across all TA Officer notifications — the exact limits appear on your registration and upload screen once you log in for your entry.

Important

Because TA Officer entry requirements can vary by notification, confirm the current instructions on your application portal before submitting. Set a custom target in the tool above to match whatever your screen shows.

Preparing Your Files Before Upload

  • Sign on plain white paper with a black ink pen — this is called out specifically for the Soldier/Tradesman route.
  • Start with a clear, recent passport-style photograph and follow any background requirement shown in your current application instructions.
  • Scan or photograph only the signature area, not the full page.
  • Keep both files well-lit so compression doesn't blur the ink or the face.
  • Check both land inside 50–80 KB for the Soldier/Tradesman form before uploading — most photo tools default to a smaller photo range, so this one needs a manual check.

If your scan has wide margins around the signature, trim them first with our crop signature tool so compression works on the ink, not on empty paper.

How to Resize

3-step process to resize Territorial Army photo and signature — choose application route, upload and resize to 50-80 KB, download and verify before uploading
  1. 1

    Upload your photo and signature

Choose scanned images or clear phone photos for both files.

  2. 2

    Select your route

Soldier/Tradesman uses the verified 50–80 KB range; for Officer entry, check the current upload requirement shown on your portal and set a custom target if needed.

  3. 3

    Crop and compress

Remove excess background or white space and bring both files into range.

  4. 4

    Download and verify

Confirm the KB size on both files before heading to the application portal.

Common Upload Problems for TA Applications

ProblemCause
Photo or signature rejected on territorialarmy.inFile outside 50–80 KB, or saved in a format other than JPG/JPEG
Portal shows different limits than expectedYou may be on the wrong route — Officer and Soldier/Tradesman use separate portals and rules
Signature looks faded after compressionStarted from a low-contrast scan; rescan with better lighting instead of compressing further
Photo doesn't match the portal's expectationsRetake the photo following the background and pose instructions on your specific application screen

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the photo and signature size limits the same for Territorial Army?

For the Soldier/Tradesman route, yes — both photograph and signature currently fall in the same 50–80 KB, JPG/JPEG range per territorialarmy.in. For TA Officer entry, check the limits shown on your registration screen.

Is the requirement same for TA Officer and TA Soldier/Tradesman?

No. They're separate application routes on separate portals, and the published rules differ. Confirm which notification you're applying under first.

Can I reuse a photo or signature prepared for NDA or Agniveer?

Only if it meets the current Territorial Army requirements — the issue isn't reusing the file, it's whether its size and format match this form's specification. A file made with our NDA signature resizer or Agniveer photo & signature resizer won't automatically match, so recheck the KB size and format before uploading.

Where do I check the latest official Territorial Army requirements?

For Soldier/Tradesman, refer to territorialarmy.in. For TA Officer entry, refer to the portal linked in your specific officer notification.

Can I resize my Territorial Army photo and signature on mobile?

Yes. Upload each file from your phone browser, crop it, adjust the file size into the required range, preview and download. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
