UPPSC Photo Resizer
Quick Answer: UPPSC photo size is 5 × 6 cm, under 50 KB. Signature size is 6 × 3 cm, under 30 KB. Both are specified at 200 DPI in True Colour.
Important
These are the specifications given in the UPPSC OTR scanning instructions. If your specific recruitment advertisement provides different upload requirements, follow that advertisement.

UPPSC Photo Size Requirements
The UPPSC scanning instructions provide the following specifications for the photograph:
| Requirement | UPPSC Photo |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 5 cm × 6 cm |
| File size | Less than 50 KB |
| Resolution | 200 DPI |
| Colour | True Colour |
| Format | JPG / JPEG |
| Photo | Clear, recent coloured photograph |
UPPSC specifies the photograph using physical dimensions and DPI rather than one fixed pixel size.
UPPSC Signature Size Requirements
The UPPSC OTR guide gives a separate size for the signature:
| Requirement | UPPSC Signature |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | 6 cm × 3 cm |
| File size | Less than 30 KB |
| Resolution | 200 DPI |
| Colour | True Colour |
| Format | JPG / JPEG |
| Style | Full, genuine signature |
UPPSC states that the signature must be genuine and complete. Initials are not sufficient, and signatures written in CAPITAL LETTERS are not permitted.
If a particular UPPSC recruitment advertisement gives a different file-size limit, use the requirement stated in that advertisement.
Why UPPSC Uses CM and DPI Instead of Fixed Pixels
You may see websites showing fixed pixel dimensions for UPPSC, but the official scanning guide specifies the photo and signature using centimetres and DPI. At 200 DPI, the approximate pixel equivalents are:
- Photo: 5 × 6 cm ≈ 394 × 472 px
- Signature: 6 × 3 cm ≈ 472 × 236 px
These are calculated equivalents, not separate UPPSC pixel specifications. The primary reference remains 5 × 6 cm / 200 DPI for the photo and 6 × 3 cm / 200 DPI for the signature.
Current UPPSC OTR: Photo and Signature Upload
The current UPPSC OTR process provides an Upload Photo and Signature option for candidates to upload and save their images.
Some older UPPSC advertisements used a different workflow in which the photograph and signature were placed on a white sheet and scanned as a combined image.
Note
For a current OTR application, follow the upload fields shown in the portal and the instructions in your specific advertisement. Do not prepare a combined image unless your application specifically asks for one.
How to Prepare Your UPPSC Photo and Signature
Crop unnecessary margins with our Crop Signature Online tool, resize to the exact UPPSC dimensions with the Signature Resizer, and bring the final file under the KB limit using the Image Compressor.
- 1
Start with clear originals
Use a clear photograph and a clean signature image. Avoid starting with files that are already blurry or heavily compressed.
- 2
Crop the image
Remove unnecessary margins while keeping the complete photograph or signature visible.
- 3
Set the UPPSC dimensions
Prepare the photo at 5 × 6 cm and the signature at 6 × 3 cm, both at 200 DPI.
- 4
Reduce the file size
Keep the photo under 50 KB and the signature under 30 KB. Avoid excessive compression that makes the photograph unclear or the signature difficult to read.
- 5
Preview both files
Check that the photograph is clear and the complete signature is visible before downloading.
- 6
Save them separately
Use simple filenames such as uppsc-photo.jpg and uppsc-signature.jpg, and keep the original files separate from the final upload versions.
Common UPPSC Photo & Signature Mistakes
| Mistake | Solution |
|---|---|
| Photo is above 50 KB | Compress the photograph until it falls below the applicable file-size limit while keeping it clear. |
| Signature is above 30 KB | Crop unnecessary blank space first, then reduce the file size gradually. |
| Wrong dimensions | Check the prepared image against the official 5 × 6 cm photo and 6 × 3 cm signature dimensions. |
| Signature is written in capital letters | UPPSC does not permit signatures written in CAPITAL LETTERS. Use your normal full signature instead. |
| Initials used instead of a full signature | Use your complete genuine signature rather than initials or an incomplete portion of your handwriting. |
| Blurry signature after compression | Start with a clearer original scan and compress it gradually. Excessive compression can remove important details from the handwriting. |
| Using an old combined image | If an older UPPSC application used a combined photo-and-signature scan, do not automatically reuse that file for the current OTR process. Follow the upload fields and instructions for your current application. |
UPPSC OTR: Documents and Details to Keep Ready
The photograph and signature are only part of the application process. Depending on the recruitment, you may also need:
- Educational qualification details
- Date of birth information
- Category and reservation details
- Domicile information, where applicable
- Experience details for posts that require them
- Relevant certificates mentioned in the advertisement
- Mobile number and email address
The exact requirements depend on the recruitment and post, so keep your original records available while completing the application.
UPPSC OTR Application Flow
A simplified view of the current process is: Create OTR → Verify Email & Mobile → Upload Photo & Signature → Enter Personal Details → Complete OTR → Select Advertisement → Authenticate With OTR → Complete Application → Preview & Submit.
Your OTR information is used when applying for advertised UPPSC posts, so check important personal information carefully before continuing.
Before You Submit Your UPPSC Application
Take a final look at your images and application details:
- Photo is clear and correctly prepared.
- Photo is below 50 KB.
- Signature is clear and below 30 KB.
- Photo dimensions are 5 × 6 cm.
- Signature dimensions are 6 × 3 cm.
- Both files use the required image format.
- Signature is complete and not written in capital letters.
- Correct files have been selected in the OTR portal.
- Personal details match your original records.
- Application preview has been checked.
- Submitted application and payment details are saved.
Keep Your UPPSC Application Files Together
After completing your application, keep the original photo, original signature, final UPPSC-ready versions of both, educational and category documents, the submitted application, and your payment confirmation together in one folder. Keeping the original and final versions separately makes it easier to create a fresh copy if another recruitment requires different specifications.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the UPPSC photo size?
The UPPSC scanning guide specifies a 5 cm × 6 cm photograph at 200 DPI, in True Colour, with a file size of less than 50 KB.
What is the UPPSC signature size?
The specified signature size is 6 cm × 3 cm, scanned at 200 DPI in True Colour, with a file size of less than 30 KB. If your specific advertisement states a different limit, follow that advertisement.
Does UPPSC require separate photo and signature uploads?
The current OTR process provides an Upload Photo and Signature option. Follow the upload fields shown in your current OTR/application portal.
Did UPPSC ever use a combined photo and signature image?
Yes. Some older UPPSC advertisements instructed candidates to place the photograph and signature together and scan them as a single image. That should not automatically be assumed to be the requirement for a current OTR application.
Can I use my old UPPSC photograph?
You can reuse an existing image only if it remains suitable for your current application and follows the applicable instructions. Check the current recruitment instructions before uploading an older file.
Can I use my mobile phone to prepare my UPPSC photo and signature?
Yes. You can capture or scan your original images with a mobile device, then crop, resize and compress them before uploading.
Why was my UPPSC signature rejected?
Check the dimensions, file size, format and clarity. Also make sure the signature is complete, genuine and not written in capital letters.
Should I keep my original photograph and signature?
Yes. Keep the original files separately from the final upload versions. This allows you to create a fresh copy whenever another application requires different dimensions or file-size limits.
