SBI PO Photo & Signature Resizer 2026

Preparing your SBI PO application images before you start registration can save time during the upload process. The current SBI PO application requires a scanned photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and handwritten declaration. You also need to complete a separate live-photograph capture during registration. Use this page to prepare your photograph and signature, check the requirements for the other uploads, and make sure everything is ready before you begin the application.

Your SBI PO Application Has Two Photo Steps

One detail that often causes confusion is that the scanned photograph and live photograph are separate.

Scanned photograph

This is the JPG/JPEG image you prepare before starting the application.

For the current SBI PO requirements:

  • 200 × 230 pixels preferred
  • 20–50 KB
  • JPG/JPEG
  • Recent passport-style colour photograph
  • Light-coloured, preferably white, background

Live photograph

This is captured during the online application process rather than prepared as an existing image file.

SBI provides a webcam-based capture option and also allows the candidate to use a mobile phone through the QR-code option shown during registration.

For the live capture, use adequate lighting, a light-coloured background and look directly at the camera. Avoid caps, sunglasses and coloured glasses, and make sure your face is clearly visible.

Preparing the scanned photograph does not replace the live-photo step.

If you're also applying to RBI this cycle, the RBI Grade B and RBI Assistant photo & signature resizers follow the same four-document plus live-capture structure with their own size ranges.

Prepare Your SBI PO Photograph

Use a recent passport-style colour photograph for the scanned upload.

  • Format: JPG/JPEG
  • Preferred dimensions: 200 × 230 pixels
  • File size: 20–50 KB
  • Background: Light-coloured, preferably white

Look directly at the camera with a relaxed expression. If you wear glasses, make sure there are no reflections and your eyes remain clearly visible.

Caps, hats and dark glasses are not accepted. Religious headwear is allowed provided it does not cover the face.

Keep the Same Photograph

SBI advises candidates to retain approximately 8 copies of the same photograph uploaded during online registration, as these may be needed during later stages of the selection process.

So keep the original photograph and the final uploaded version safely stored after completing your application.

Resize Your SBI PO Signature

Your signature is uploaded separately from your photograph.

  • Format: JPG/JPEG
  • Preferred dimensions: 140 × 60 pixels
  • File size: 10–20 KB
  • Paper: White
  • Ink: Black

The signature should be made by you personally and should be clearly visible after scanning.

Do Not Use Capital Letters

SBI specifically states that signatures written in CAPITAL LETTERS are not accepted. Use your normal signature rather than writing your name in block letters.

Keep Your Signature Consistent

This is particularly important for SBI PO.

SBI states that if the signature on the attendance sheet or call letter does not match the signature uploaded with the application, the applicant will be disqualified.

Use your genuine, regular signature throughout the recruitment process.

SBI PO Left-Hand Thumb Impression

The thumb impression has a separate upload requirement.

  • Format: JPG/JPEG
  • Dimensions: 240 × 240 pixels
  • Resolution: 200 DPI preferred
  • File size: 20–50 KB
  • Ink: Black or blue
  • Paper: White

Create a clear impression and avoid smudging before scanning.

What If You Do Not Have a Left Thumb?

SBI allows the right thumb to be used if the candidate does not have a left thumb. The notification also provides alternatives for candidates who do not have either thumb or certain fingers.

If this situation applies to you, follow the specific identification instructions in the current notification rather than simply uploading an unspecified thumb or finger impression.

SBI PO Handwritten Declaration

The handwritten declaration is another separate JPG/JPEG upload.

  • Format: JPG/JPEG
  • Dimensions: 800 × 400 pixels
  • Resolution: 200 DPI preferred
  • File size: 50–100 KB
  • Language: English
  • Ink: Black
  • Paper: White

The declaration must be written in your own handwriting and in English.

It must not be written in CAPITAL LETTERS. SBI states that a declaration written by another person or in another language can make the application invalid.

Use the exact declaration text from the current SBI PO notification instead of rewriting it from memory.

Scan Your Documents at the Right Quality

SBI's scanning guidance recommends a minimum scanner resolution of 200 DPI and True Color for these documents. The image should then be cropped and adjusted to the required final size.

A practical workflow is:

  • Start with a clean original photograph, signature, thumb impression or declaration.
  • Scan it clearly.
  • Crop unnecessary blank space.
  • Set the required pixel dimensions.
  • Adjust the JPEG file size.
  • Open the final image and check its clarity.
  • Upload it to the correct field in the application.

If repeated compression makes the image blurry, return to the original scan rather than compressing the already-compressed version again.

SBI PO Upload Rules That Are Easy to Miss

Keep the correct file in the correct field

SBI requires the photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration to be uploaded in their respective places.

Uploading a photograph where the signature belongs, or placing the signature in the wrong field, can prevent the candidate from being allowed to appear for the examination.

Check the preview before submission

After uploading the files, check whether each image is clearly visible and correctly placed.

If an uploaded image is unclear, smudged or not prominently visible, SBI allows it to be edited and re-uploaded before the application is finally submitted.

Common SBI PO Image Problems

  • Photograph Is Above 50 KB

Reduce the JPEG file size while maintaining sufficient clarity. The current photograph range is 20–50 KB.

  • Photograph Has the Wrong Dimensions

Changing the KB size does not automatically correct pixel dimensions. Set the photograph to 200 × 230 pixels preferred and then check the final file size.

  • Signature Is Above 20 KB

Crop excess white space and reduce the JPEG file size while keeping the handwriting readable.

  • Signature Is Written in Capital Letters

Create a new signature image using your normal running signature. SBI does not accept capital-letter signatures.

  • Signature Does Not Match Later

Do not create a different signature for the application. Keep the same genuine signature throughout the recruitment process because SBI warns that a mismatch can lead to disqualification.

  • Thumb Impression Is Smudged

Make a fresh impression on clean white paper and allow the ink to dry before scanning.

  • Declaration Is in Capital Letters

Rewrite it in normal handwriting. The declaration must not be written in capital letters.

  • Declaration Is Outside the Required Range

Check both dimensions and file size. The current requirement is 800 × 400 pixels at 200 DPI preferred and 50–100 KB.

  • Live Photograph Is Not Clear

Recapture it with adequate lighting, a suitable background and a direct view of the camera. Follow the capture instructions displayed during the application.

A Simple SBI PO Preparation Order

You don't need to prepare everything while the application form is open.

A smoother order is:

1. Photograph → 2. Signature → 3. Thumb Impression → 4. Declaration → 5. Live Photo → 6. Final Preview

Prepare the four scanned files first. Then keep a suitable place ready for the live photograph before you start registration.

This reduces the chance of stopping midway through the application to edit an image.

Keep Your Original Files Safe

Create a folder such as SBI PO Application and keep the original files separate from the final upload versions.

For example:

  • Original Photograph
  • Final Photograph
  • Original Signature
  • Final Signature
  • Thumb Impression
  • Handwritten Declaration
  • Submitted Application
  • Payment Receipt

Don't overwrite your original files with compressed versions. If you need another size later, you can create it again from the original.

Also keep the same photograph used for registration because SBI advises retaining approximately eight copies for later selection stages.
