SSC GD Photo & Signature Requirements

The photograph and signature are handled separately during the application process.

The current SSC GD instructions require the photograph to be captured through the application module rather than uploaded as an existing photograph. The scanned signature is uploaded separately and must follow the stated format, size and dimension requirements.

SSC GD Live Photo: What You Need to Know

The current SSC GD application does not require you to prepare a pre-existing photograph for upload. The application module captures your photograph while you complete the form.

When the live-photo step appears:

• Find a place with good lighting and a plain background.
• Keep the camera at eye level.
• Position yourself directly in front of the camera.
• Look straight ahead.
• Keep your entire face inside the area shown by the application.
• Do not wear a cap, mask or glasses/spectacles.
• Make sure the captured photograph is clear and properly framed.

If the captured photograph does not meet the displayed instructions, recapture it before continuing. SSC also states that candidates should not photograph an existing photograph for use in the application.

Prepare Your SSC GD Signature

Unlike the live photograph, your signature needs to be prepared as a separate image before uploading it.

For a cleaner result:

Why the SSC GD Signature Size Matters

File size and image dimensions are separate requirements. A signature can be within the allowed KB range while still having incorrect dimensions.

The signature should also remain clear and readable. SSC states that applications with blurred or miniature signatures may be rejected under the stated instructions.

Common SSC GD Signature Upload Problems

Signature Is Above 20 KB

Reduce the file size while keeping the handwriting clear. The current requirement specifies a 10–20 KB range.

Signature Is Below 10 KB

If the final file falls below the specified range, adjust the file settings again instead of using the smallest possible file.

Signature Looks Blurry

Start with a clear original scan or photograph. Compression cannot restore details that are already missing from the source.

Signature Dimensions Are Wrong

Changing only the KB size will not correct the dimensions. Enter the required width and height using the custom size controls.

Too Much White Space Around the Signature

Crop unnecessary margins while keeping the entire signature visible. Excessive blank space can make the actual handwriting appear too small.

Live Photo Is Not Accepted

Retake the photograph using good lighting, a plain background, an eye-level camera and a direct frontal view. Make sure your face fits correctly inside the area shown by the application.
